As part of the interventionist programme of the school as a National think tank, the school runs an Executive Post-Graduate Diploma and Professional Masters in Public Administration and Public Policy through blended learning.
The Executive Postgraduate Diploma and Masters of Public Administration and Public Policy are collaborative programmes between the Lead City University and The Ibadan School of Government and Public Policy to deliver blended theoretical and experiential courses in a uniform manner in the fields of Public Administration, Public Management, Public Policy as well as in Governance and Politics using a curriculum designed in line with international standards by African academics and public policy experts.
The programmes embrace public policy as a distinct area of academic research and practical professional expertise beyond the realms of traditional Public Administration or Public Management into new public and private sector management for the 21st century global economy and governance.
The ISGPP Graduate Programmes in Public Administration and Public Policy is an exciting intensive academic programme that provides high caliber students, graduates and working professionals across the globe with an exciting opportunity to study important issues on Public administration and Public policy relevant to modern-day Africa through a blended learning approach. The Graduate Programmes offers innovative experiential learning opportunities for professionals involved in all aspects of public administration and public policy, from planning, staffing and budgeting to policy formulation, execution and evaluation.
The Programmes provide hands-on education – not simply a theoretical exploration of public administration and public policy – and is comprised of three topical clusters: basic and applied proficiencies in public administration and management for those already working, or interested in working in the public sector; basic and applied proficiencies in policy making, for who have the responsibility of drafting public policies and programmes and/or providing advice to top-level bureaucrats; and advanced proficiencies in public entrepreneurship for those focused on profit and non-profit operations.
The main objective of the graduate programmes is to build the capacity of career public servants and development workers who have the responsibility of drafting public policies and programmes and/or providing advice to top-level decision-makers, providing them with the needed knowledge and skills for understanding the context of public policy decision-making, searching of the research evidence and other information that informs decision-making, appraising the quality of the information, interpreting and synthesizing these evidence, and packaging it appropriately for use in decision-making. A unique aspect of the programme is the post-lecture practicum training where the students are assigned to various public and private organisations for internships in order to integrate learning into their day-to-day work and apply agreed upon tools or documents useful to their work.
