ISGPP Seminar Series: Evolution and Challenges of Health Policy & Health Systems Development in Nigeria
Health is generally acknowledged as the greatest form of wealth and access to health is considered paramount in development-minded societies. However, provision of health in modern societies is extremely difficult without well developed health policies and systems that will ensure that members of the society have affordable access to health. Recognising the importance of health systems and the need for more expert conversations that will lead to its improvement in Nigeria, this month.
ISGPP seminar focuses on health systems and its development in Nigeria. The seminar will have as the Keynote Speaker, Prof. Eyitayo Lambo, an erudite scholar of local and international health systems and Nigeria’s former Minister of Health, popular for having the first Health Sector Reform Program (National Health Insurance Scheme) for Nigeria developed and implemented under his watch; as well as the formulation of the National Health Bill.
The essence of the event is to bring together critical stakeholders which includes members of the Academia, Health Policy experts, Health Personnel, Reforms experts and Government officials from relevant agencies, International Organisations and development partners etc to engage in
conversations that will generate policy dialogues that could be deployed by relevant stakeholders, including government; in addressing health challenges in Nigeria and Africa.
